MARTIN, Tenn. -- Myles Taylor and Justin Childs scored 15 points each to lead UT-Martin to a 79-66 win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday.
The Skyhawks (4-8) trailed much of the second half but kept the score close, then took a 60-59 lead on a 3-pointer by Bobby Jones with 4:46 remaining. They pulled away for the win by going 10 for 10 from the foul line in the final minute. Taylor became the 17th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
Marshun Newell contributed 12 points and Terence Smith added 10 more for the Skyhawks.
Northern Kentucky (1-7) shot 51 percent from the floor but struggled to hang on to the ball, giving up 16 turnovers to UT-Martin's 4. Jordan Jackson led the Norse with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Todd Johnson added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Saturday's tipoff was moved up four hours because of inclement weather.
