Former Red Ray Knight charged with assault in Virginia

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Former Cincinnati Reds player and manager Ray Knight is facing a charge of assault and battery after an argument at his home turned physical Sunday.

Knight and the 33-year-old man both had visible injuries and were treated at a hospital, according to Fairfax County Police. 

Police then brought Knight to the county jail. He has since been released.

Knight played for the Reds during the 1970s and early '80s and managed the Reds in the '90s. He is currently a broadcaster covering the Washington Nationals.

Police said Knight is due in court Jan. 8, 2018.
