CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds started their annual caravan across the Midwest Thursday.

The 2014 Reds Caravan has four tours with 17 stops in five states over four days.

During the tour, the team will meet with fans, do interviews and sign autographs.

The team left for the 3,000 mile tour at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The tour will culminate with the annual Select-A-Seat event at Great American Ball Park on Sunday. Fans will be able to meet with Reds ticket representatives to choose a ticket plan and seat locations for the 2014 season.

“As our fan base continues to grow, we are expanding the Caravan to visit every corner of Reds Country,” Phil Castellini, Reds Chief Operating Officer, said in a release. “Our player, coaches, broadcasters, and Reds personnel look forward to these four days every year as our official kick off to the new season of Reds baseball. It’s amazing to experience the welcome we receive from our loyal fans at every stop along the way.”

All the caravan stops are free for fans to take part in. At each stop, the team will raffle two tickets to the 2014 Opening Day game on March 31 versus the St. Louis Cardinals.

One of those stops was at the home of the Reds Caravan Home Takeover winner.

The home, owned by former University of Cincinnati Bearcats Men's Basketball player Keith Gregor, got a visit from Marty Brennaman, Brayan Peña, Eric Davis and a large contingent of Reds personnel.

Gregor and his wife Sherry submitted the best essay as to why the Caravan should make a stop at their home. More than 200 entered the contest.
