SPARTA, KY - Race fans in Greater Cincinnati are paying more attention than normal to the weather forecast. And they're seeing the prediction of intensely hot temperatures for later this week.
Temperatures are expected to hit 98-degrees on Thursday and Friday, and cooling to only 96-degrees for the big Quaker State 400 race on Saturday.
Kentucky Speedway officials started to deal with the heat forecast as soon as the week began.
"We are taking every measure to ensure our fans enjoy great racing when we take the NASCAR spotlight this weekend" said track General Manager Mark Simendinger.
The Speedway announced that it will have multiple cooling stations at various parts of the track, and will also be stocking extra water and ice.
