IndyCar hopes 'Turbo' can attract new generation of race fans

INDIANAPOLIS - Will an animated movie help ensure the long-term survival of an auto racing league?

That's what officials from U.S.-based open-wheel racing league IndyCar  hope the new film "Turbo" is able to do them.

The DreamWorks film tells the tale of a garden snail named Theo (a.k.a Turbo) who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, five-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagne.

IndyCar officials told Scripps sister station WRTV in Indianapolis that they hope the adorable film attracts a younger generation of race fan to their sport.

The film opened nationwide Wednesday.
