What really killed Princess Diana? British police investigating claim of murder

LONDON - Buckingham Palace is refusing to comment on allegations that Princess Diana did not die in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

British police say they are examining newly received information relating to her death. They say the claim is that Diana was murdered by British Special Forces.

The allegation reportedly comes from a former soldier’s estranged in-laws.

Scotland Yard says the investigation will be carried out by officers from a specialist crime and operations unit. The force stressed it was not reopening the investigation into the 1997 deaths of Diana and Dodi al Fayad.

In 2008, a British jury ruled that Diana, the Princess of Wales, and her companion, Fayed, were unlawfully killed due to reckless speed and drinking by their driver, and by the reckless pursuit of paparazzi chasing them.
