CLEVELAND - A woman and a toddler are dead following a stabbing and crash in Cleveland Thursday night.
The incident happened along East 125th Street at about 9:10 p.m.
Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris said two women, Kimberly Black, 29, and Sharice Swain, 29, were in a parked car arguing in Black's driveway. Police said Black went inside the home and returned with a weapon. She then came back out to the car and cut Swain several times in the face and neck.
Police said after cutting Swain, Black took off her clothes and got her two children, ages one and two, out of the car. Swain then hit the gas pedal hitting the two children and a house.
The two children were taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. The 2-year-old died. The 1-year-old is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Nicki Randall lives in the area and said she picked the girl up after she was hit by the car. She thinks the girl died in her arms.
"I think she did ‘cause I saw her eye move, that's what made me pick her up like she's still breathing, like she was," said Randall. "But when I got out and put her in the fire truck she went limp as soon as he reached for her."
Police said Swain also died from her injuries.
Authorities said Black fled the scene and was later arrested in the area of East 123rd Street and Soika Avenue. Black remains in custody awaiting charges.
The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide and Accident Investigation Units are investigating the incident.
The official causes of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
