SYMMES TWP., Ohio - A Tri-State church with a rich long history will mark a new milestone on Sunday celebrating a $6.1 million expansion project.
Sycamore Presbyterian Church held a dedication ceremony planned at 10:45 a.m. The church is located at the corner of Montgomery and Mason Montgomery roads.
The new sanctuary doubled in size and will seat more than 700 people.
"When you're full, there's a perception of not being welcomed. We felt we needed to do something about that to open the door to the community nearby," Pastor Larry Kent said.
The newly remodeled student ministries center will also be dedicated as part of the service and a reception will follow.
The church was founded in 1796 by Jeremiah Morrow who served two terms as governor of Ohio. A single room structure from 1848 still stands on the property.
