MUNICH (AP) - Alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk (dehm-YAHN'-yuk) has been hospitalized in Germany after developing a case of gout.
The retired Ohio autoworker is being held in Munich on an arrest warrant accusing him of being an accessory to 29,000 murders as a camp guard.
His attorney says Demjanjuk was moved yesterday from prison to a clinic to be treated for his ailment.
Demjanjuk was deported from the Cleveland area earlier this month.
His lawyer says Munich prosecutors still have not been able to determine whether the 89-year-old Ukraine native is healthy enough to stand trial.
Demjanjuk maintains he was a Red Army soldier who spent much of World War II as a Nazi POW and never worked in a camp.
