CINCINNATI -- Former classmates of Ryan Greenwell, a University of Kentucky student who died Wednesday in a motorcycle crash, grieved him on social media Thursday.

Greenwell, a civil engineering student at UK, also attended Saint Xavier High School and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, where students remembered his positivity and kind-hearted nature.

"Ask anyone lucky enough to know him and you’ll find, without fail, his warmth, encouragement and youthful spirit were unmatched," former classmate Meredith Stutz wrote on Facebook. "No matter how rough or crazy your day, you knew you had Ryan in your corner, cheering you on with his infectious grin. Thousands were touched by his tremendous musical talent and even more by his generous heart."

According to Lexington, Kentucky police, Greenwell died Wednesday when a driver crashed into his motorcycle during a left turn.

Greenwell’s fellow UK students and supporters had raised $12,260 by Thursday night to help cover the cost of his funeral.
