INDIANAPOLIS - Police have arrested the mother of an abandoned baby found in a trash can Friday night.
Briana Holland, 22, was taken into custody Saturday morning on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent, Indianapolis Metro Police said.
The child was found in a bathroom in the United Technology Carrier Corporation building in the 7300 block of West Morris Street in Indianapolis just after 8 p.m., officials told Scripps sister station RTV6.
Sources told RTV6 the baby was less than one hour old when it was discovered.
The baby was alive and taken to Riley Hospital for Children. Officials confirmed the child was in good condition.
IMPD issued a reminder to residents Saturday morning that Indiana's Safe Haven Law allows a person to anonymously give up an infant without fear of arrest or prosecution.
