CLEVELAND - U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced legislation Monday to help accelerate the treatment of breast cancer and better inform women of their treatment and breast reconstructive options.
In the lobby of the Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals, Brown explained that the Accelerating The End Of Breast Cancer Act would establish a commission to develop a strategic plan to end breast cancer by 2020.
The legislation would help create a commission of experts from the public and private sectors that would search for the most viable initiatives available that hold the most promise for eliminating breast cancer.
Brown also introduced the Breast Cancer Patient Education Act. The bill would create a framework throughout the country that would ensure breast cancer patients be better informed of all their care options, including reconstructive procedures, before breast cancer surgery.
