COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State University President Gordon Gee is expected to address trustees at their meeting while making his final appearance there as head of the university.
Gee was expected Friday to once again explain the reasons for abruptly announcing he'll retire July 1. He made that decision earlier this week, just days after the latest in a long line of his verbal gaffes became public.
His December remarks jabbing Roman Catholics and the academic integrity of Southeastern Conference schools were first reported by The Associated Press last week.
Gee said the furor that followed was a small part of his retirement decision. The 69-year-old leader also cited his age and family as reasons for stepping down.
