DAYTON, Ohio - Prosecutors have charged an Ohio woman and her live-in boyfriend with involuntary manslaughter and other crimes in the death of her 17-month-old son.
The Dayton Daily News reports that Crystal Laurel and Dustin Rybak were charged Tuesday by prosecutors in Montgomery County. Both are also charged with child endangering and tampering with evidence. Laurel faces an additional charge of permitting child abuse. Both are 25.
Authorities said Takota Hasty was taken to a hospital Sunday with multiple injuries, including burns and broken bones. The toddler was taken off life support on Monday.
Laurel and Rybak -- who is not the child's father -- were in the county jail Wednesday. Jail records did not list attorneys for them.
A memorial fund has been established to pay for the child's funeral.
