CINCINNATI - More than a thousand fathers from across the Tri-State received praise for their efforts as caregivers and providers at Sawyer Point on Father's Day.
The third annual Fatherhood Celebration at the downtown Cincinnati riverfront park drew record crowds on Sunday, according to event organizers.
Sponsored by Talbert House, the event featured free food, live music and guest appearances by Bengals players and Ben-Gal cheerleaders.
Olivia and John Silverman, officials from Talbert House, said they can't stress how important it is to honor fathers for the important role they play in children's lives.
"It's incredibly important to have an involved mom, but it's incredibly important to have an involved dad also," said John Silverman, adding that Talbert House features a fatherhood program due to the significant role men play in the upbringing of children. "The average (Talbert House) client has three kids and so by showing (men) what it means to be a good dad, we're helping build better lives for the children as well, and that's what we're here for."
The Silvermans say they're looking forward to an even bigger event next year.
