Authorities in Ohio searching for escape inmate

MANSFIELD, Ohio - An inmate in Mansfield has escaped and authorities need the public's help finding him.

The Mansfield Correctional Institution has confirmed inmate James David Myers has escaped from the Mansfield Correctional Institution.  Inmate Myers was last identified prior to the 9:00 p.m. head count.

According to records with the Department of Rehabilitation and Records, the 47 year-old-man is designated as a sexually violent offender. He was sentenced for eight felony counts. Charges include kidnapping, 3 counts of rape, aggravated burglary, corruption with drugs, menacing by stalking, and a weapons charge. The crimes were reported to have been committed in Summit County.
