YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio — Antioch College near Dayton was on lockdown part of the day Thursday after someone told authorities they spotted a man with a gun wearing camouflage, a spokeswoman for Antioch College told WHIO Dayton.
The witness told police the camouflaged man was spotted in Glen Helen Nature Preserve at about 11:30 a.m.
According to a statement from the college's website, which also asks the campus community to be watchful over the next few days and to call 911 if any suspicious people are seen.
A witness at the nature center told WHIO that the camouflaged man approached a dorm and when asked to leave by a counselor, he displayed a gun.
The Greene County Sheriff's office and several other agencies are actively searching for the man near the Glen Helen Education Center on Ohio State Route 343, WHIO reports.
The school wrote the following on its website:
Please be on the lookout for a male wearing camouflage and carrying a gun near Glen Helen. Police and sheriffs are on the scene. Please report any persons matching this description to 911 immediately.
The Antioch College campus is now on lockdown until further notice. If you are currently on campus please stay in your building or your office. If you are off-campus, please avoid campus.
