Gamble House closer to becoming historical landmark

CINCINNATI - The Gamble House is one step closer to being named a historicallandmark.

The Livable Communities Committee passed the recommendation forthe historical designation. The proposal will now have to be votedon by the Cincinnati City Council. That vote is planned forWednesday.

The home on Werk Road in Westwood once belonged to James Gamble,who invented Procter & Gamble’s Ivory soap.

The Greenacres Foundation is the current owner and wants to tearit down.

The Cincinnati Planning Commission voted to designate it ahistoric landmark.
