Green Township trustees will hear more comments about a proposed public housing development at Monday's trustees meeting at 5 p.m. at the township administration complex, 6303 Harrison Ave.
Hundreds of people filled the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority auditorium Thursday night to speak their minds about the 32 public housing units mandated for Green Township by the federal government - and where CMHA should locate them.
CMHA says it is considering two options: 1) developing a multi-unit complex; and 2) spreading the units throughout the township. Attendees at Thursday's meeting were given a survey and asked to state their preference for one of the options.
You can fill out the survey and see a PowerPoint presentation at the CMHA web site: http://www.cintimha.com/cmha-town-hall-meeting-regarding-green-township-development.aspx
CMHA is reviewing the completed surveys, CMHA spokesperson Kelly Kramer said Monday.
CMHA says it already has approved a proposal to purchase four parcels land for a multi-unit complex just north of Westwood-Northern Boulevard between North Bend Road and Boudinot Avenue, but the agency promised to consider the public's preference before making a final decision. The plan also depends on Green Township selling a parcel of land to CMHA.
Asked for a hand vote, almost everyone in the crowd at the CMHA meeting showed their support for spreading out the units. CMHA Executive Director Gregory Johnson said no matter where the public housing goes, someone will be unhappy.
Residents from Green Township and neighboring Cheviot and Westwood have attended several recent public meetings to protest the plan for a multi-unit project on North Bend Road.
Green Township, which has 105 public housing units, is required to accept 32 more under terms of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
CMHA has to give a progress report to HUD by the end of the month.
