Vigil planned to mark 3-year anniversary of Paige Johnson's disappearance

FLORENCE, Ky. -- Three years have passed since the disappearance of a Florence, Ky., teenager and her family and friends plan to have a vigil to mark the anniversary Monday evening.

Paige Johnson went missing on Sept. 23, 2010, after the boy she was last seen with says he dropped her off at a downtown Covington street corner.

Jacob Bumpass says he picked Paige up in his car, took her to his apartment and they drank beer together.

Paige’s mother, Donna, says Paige told her Jacob was picking her up and taking her to her older sister’s apartment in Covington.

Paige never made it to her sister’s, and Bumpass says he dropped her off about two blocks away at a Covington street corner.

Paige left behind family and friends and also a young daughter, Makenzie, who was three at the time of her disappearance.

Monday evening, the community will come together to mark the three-year anniversary of Paige’s disappearance by sharing memories of her.

Paige Johnson, “Remember when?” Vigil , a Facebook page created for the event, asks people to come ready to share memories of Paige from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Goebels Park in Covington, Ky.

They ask the community to bring memories and photographs to share and to wear Paige shirts, buttons or bows.

A family/friend “say a prayer” will be held at 7 p.m.

The Facebook page says, “We will never give up hope!”
