FALMOUTH, Ky. -- A 21-year-old man was charged with third-degree arson and second-degree burglary in connection with a fire that destroyed a home Thursday night.

The fire started in a vacant house on Park Street at about 8 p.m., Fire Chief David Marquardt said.

The department was on another call, so by the time they arrived, the fire had overtaken the home. The city maintenance department was called out to shut off power to some downed electrical lines.

Marquardt said the fire was knocked down in about an hour.

Officer Kenny Brockman later determined arson was to blame. Steven Edward Browning was arrested Friday and booked into the Boone County Jail, where he remained Friday night.

The Falmouth Police Department said Browning is Brockman's second arson arrest in less than a month.
