FLORENCE, Ky. - Police are investigating a crash in Northern Kentucky that left one person dead and injured five others Wednesday.
Leeann Wilson, 36, died after she was hit head-on during an accident on Dixie Highway around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say 21-year-old Tarra Miller was driving southbound on SR 25 when she drove left of center and collided into Wilson's northbound vehicle.
Tarra and her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Miller, were transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood with non life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews transported Wilson to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence where she was later pronounced dead.
Melanie Abalos, 39, was a passenger in Wilson's vehicle and emergency crews transported her to University Hospital. Two children — ages 15 and 13 — were in the back seat of Wilson's vehicle at the time of the crash and were transported to Children's Hospital. Officials have not released information about the condition of the passengers in Wilson's vehicle.
Wilson and the two children were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to police.
The Boone County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the crash.
