EDGEWOOD, Ky. - A sprawling 15,000-square-foot mansion in Edgewood is among 14 new Northern Kentucky homes that will open to the public Saturday and weekends in May.
The open houses are part of the 51st annual Cavalcade of Homes, which gives people the opportunity to visit some of the most cutting edge new homes in the region.
Presented by the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association, the event "promotes and enhances the integrity and visibility of the construction industry and the members of the organization through advocacy, communication, education and political action," according to a press release from the organization.
The Edgewood mansion, known as Chateau Mon Reve, is located on Turkeyfoot Road and was designed by Burks Builder, Inc. (You can view a photo gallery of the home at the following link: http://ow.ly/kVAto
The HBA describes the interior of the home on the organization website .
"The interior [of the home] captures the ambiance of a centuries-old castle featuring stunning walls of floor-to-ceiling windows; old world ceramic tile artistry; and an inimitable two-story foyer with a fabulous winding staircase created from imported Italian Crema Marfil marble."
Other homes on the tour are located in Lakeside Park, Edgewood, Fort Mitchell, Erlanger, Hebron, Independence, Fort Thomas, Wilder and Union.
Hebron and Union lead all cities with three entries apiece on the list. Fort Thomas has two homes on the tour.
The event began the weekend of May 4, and will continue May 11, 12, 18 and 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Admission to the homes is free.
The Cavalcade of Homes event is the region's largest scattered site new home show.
