LA GRANGE, Ky. -- Emily Caroll Martin, of Kentucky, is one of three finalist that will appear on the Katie Show on Thursday for a chance to win a recording session in Nashville.
Katie's singing contest will commence Thursday, with one of three finalists being chosen for a recording session with Martina McBride at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
Emily Martin, 35, is originally from Fort Thomas and now living in La Grange, Kentucky. Martin attended Highlands High School.
Martin says that she has always sang, starting when she was a child in choir.
One ordinary afternoon, Martin was tuned into the Katie Couric Show when Katie announced that she would be hosting a signing contest and for those interested, to write an essay explaining why you should win.
"They contacted me to record an audition tape. I had to choose from a small list -- actually only five songs -- to sing," said Martin.
For Martin's audition tape, she boasted the late Whitney Houston's 'I will always love you.'
Martin was flown to New York City last week to tape the show, which will premiere Thursday on Channel 9 WCPO-ABC at 3 p.m.
The other two finalists are Jessica Weaver, 25, of Virginia and Zac Hart, 15, also of Kentucky.
