COVINGTON, Ky. - The city of Covington is taking action to help those hit hard by recent flooding.
Residents can attend a Flood Damage Assessment Program session Saturday to figure out if they're eligible for low-interest loans to help them replace damaged property and make repairs to their homes.
City officials came up with the program after dozens of resident attended a special city commission meeting to complain about raw sewage that flooded their basements and ground floor apartments after several days of heavy rains overwhelmed the sewer system.
The session is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Center for Great Neighborhoods on Russell Street.
