WILMINGTON, Ohio. -- Jobs, jobs and more jobs are coming to Wilmington.
More 500 new jobs are coming to the area via six companies from industrial to technological, Gov. John Kasich announced Thursday.
The companies coming to the area are Air Transportation International, Inc., Custom Molding Products, LLC dba NB Allen, Ltd., DealerTrack, Inc., Polaris Sales Inc. dba Polaris Industries Inc., Praxair Distribution, Inc., and Timbertech Limited.
Kasich said 236 jobs have already been created in Wilmington this year.
Company leaders weren't bashful about why they chose to come here.
"We looked for markets to increase our distribution capabilities and it became clear pretty quickly that Wilmington, Ohio, held the core values and strong work ethic that really aligned well with the very strong culture at Polaris," a spokesperson for Polaris Industries Inc. said.
The companies will bring $37 million in payroll and invest another $40 million.
Because the companies could have gone to other states like Tennessee or Alabama, Wilmington Mayor Randy Riley was thankful.
"These folks, they just think they are starting a business. They just think they are moving to Wilmington. No your not. You're the answer to prayers," Riley said. "You really are. God bless you for coming. You're going to find that this is a great place to call home."
Gov. Kasich said the announcement is good, but it could be better.
"You have to keep pushing it up higher into the sky before it reaches its zenith, and when it does, we will be restored here in this town," Kasich said.
Mayor Riley agreed, and said that 200 more jobs could be coming by this time next year.
