NEW RICHMOND, Ohio - A 2-year-old boy remains in a hospital after his grandparents found him floating in a pond Tuesday evening.
Police responded to the 300 block of Bear Creek Road in New Richmond at about 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a child not breathing.
The child's grandparents were supervising him Tuesday evening in the residence's garage. The grandparents said the boy walked from the garage to the house, which is a short distance, but when they went to find him he could not be located.
Officials say the grandparents searched the area and found their grandson floating face down in a fish pond near their home.
The grandfather told police he administered CPR while the grandmother called 911. The child was transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital where he was stabilized. The victim was then transported to Children's Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
