CINCINNATI - A woman is in critical condition after she ingested narcotics during a traffic incident that ended in Roselawn Saturday evening.
Responding officers said they attempted to pull over a vehicle for a "routine traffic stop" in Springfield Township around 7:45 p.m. The car came to a stop near the intersection of Paddock Road and Seymour Avenue in Roselawn a short time later.
During the officer's investigation, the 24-year-old female driver apparently swallowed a baggie of drugs and began choking, according to police.
Officials said the officer performed the Heimlich maneuver until EMS units arrived at the scene.
The driver was unresponsive and is now in critical condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Police have not released the woman's name.
It is unclear at this time if other people were inside the vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
