WASHINGTON - All that talk about General David Petraeus being Mitt Romney's running mate may have been just that -- talk.
Tuesday, The Drudge Report threw Petraeus's name in the mix as a possible VP candidate for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
But a spokesman for Petraeus released a statement shooting down that report.
He says Petraeus "will not seek elected office" and that he's happy in his current role as head of the CIA.
He got that job last fall after leading US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
