CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Councilman PG Sittenfeld will attend a diplomatic seminar in Israel next week amid the country's conflict against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs selected Sittenfeld to attend the seminar.
The diplomatic convening includes 36 people from 24 different counties around the world – all under the age of 40 and considered young leaders in their home countries.
Sittenfeld and the group will meet with leaders from the Israeli Military, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Supreme Court, as well as Israeli business leaders.
"This is clearly a volatile time in the Middle East, and I believe it's essential that the United States remain a steadfast ally to Israel," Sittenfeld said. "I'm proud of my own Jewish heritage, and this is certainly a consequential moment to see and experience up-close what's occurring right now in Israel and in the region."
Sittenfeld serves as a board member of the Jewish Community Relations Council in Cincinnati.
No tax dollars are being used for the trip, Sittenfeld said.
