INDEPENDENCE, Ky. - Independence police along with the family of missing Mark Allen Smith asked the public for help in the search.

"Mr. Smith, with no explanation whatsoever, is now missing," said Assistant Chief David Nichols of the Independence Police Department.

Smith's brother Jim told reporters that the missing man last made purchases at the Taylor Mill B.P. and at the United Dairy Farmers on Fairfield Road in Bellevue. Those transactions were on Feb. 16.  There has been no trace of Allen since.

"He was paying his bills he was keeping up with his finances.  This is as mysterious to us as it would be to anybody," said Jim Smith.

Mark Smith was driving a 1999 blue Ford Ranger pick-up with Kentucky plates 816-AYX.

Anyone with information about this disappearance is urged to call the Independence police department at 859-356-2697.
