CINCINNATI - A 3-year-old boy accidentally shot himself after he found his father's loaded gun in a bedroom, according to Delhi Township police.
Police responded to a report of shooting involving a 3-year-old victim at Children's Hospital on Thursday, April 11.
Upon investigation, police discovered the boy accidentally shot himself in the bicep after he found a loaded .45 caliber under a bed, which reportedly belonged to his father, at a residence in the 4500 block of Foley Road.
Police say the bullet struck the child then exited the residence and lodged into the roof of a nearby home. The child was taken to Children's Hospital where he was admitted for one night for precautionary reasons.
Officials say surgery was not required after the incident and boy is expected to be released from the hospital sometime Friday. No other details on his injury were disclosed.
Police arrested the victim's father, Lorenzo L. McMullen, 26, with one count of child endangering and one count of having a weapon while under a disability.
No other information was released at this time.
