In a grumpy mood? Wednesday marks National Curmudgeon Day 2014

Curmudgeon (noun): a person who is easily annoyed or angered and who often complains.

Merriam-Webster's definition seems to encapsulate the general mood of many cooped-up, frustrated and downright irate Tri-Staters as we deal with arctic temps.

Wednesday is National Curmudgeon Day, and boy are we angry.

With snowfall after snowfall and temperatures refusing to push beyond zero, there's a lot to be mad about.

And while many local schools have taken more snow days than most can remember schools taking in the past, parents have been left with the task of figuring out how to balance their own jobs and keeping their cabin-fevered kids sane.

A couple days off of school? Yeah, that's fun. But five, six, seven? It's getting a little crazy.

Even stopping by the grocery store for a few items has become a task in itself. Walking 30 feet from the car to Kroger's sliding doors feels similar to climbing Mount Everest.

Hitting the gym after a long day at the office? That's hilarious. The thought of a hard workout producing sweat that will turn to ice before jumping in the car sounds great, but no thanks. So for those of us who count on that stress-relief... we're suffering.

Some lucky workers are allowed to take time off during the blustery deep freeze. But if you're like me and forced to face the cold at 3 a.m. every day, we're over it.

So join me, grumps, and feel free to complain as much as you'd like today. After all, it's a holiday.

Share this cranky story with your friends to continue the complaining (only if you're a true curmudgeon!)
