FLORENCE, Ky. - Florence police arrested a nursing assistant working at an assisted living facility in Florence Wednesday after receiving complaints that medication and personal belongings had gone missing.
Natasha Helton, 22, of Burlington, Ky., was charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking, three counts of theft of controlled substances and a count of abuse or neglect of an adult by a caretaker. All charges are felonies.
According to the Florence Department, staff at the Colonial Heights & Gardens retirement community on Hopeful Road contacted police after residents complained that personal belongings, jewelry and money were taken from their rooms between December 2012 and February 2013. Officials from the facility say medication was also taken during that period.
Officers say they used surveillance equipment to gather evidence on Helton.
