N.C. woman sets vending machine on fire after it doesn't give her soda

NEW BERN, N.C. - We've all been there, but a North Carolina woman's frustration with a vending machine went too far after she torched it over the weekend.

Investigators say surveillance video shows Debra Johnson setting a soda machine on fire Saturday after it failed to drop her drink or give her money back. Johnson was seen kicking the machine in front of a North Carolina Piggly Wiggly, then lighting a newspaper on fire and shoving it in the machine.

Johnson was arrested and charged with two felonies — burning personal property and burning of certain buildings. The 43-year-old is being held on $10,000 bond.

Police have not released information about the estimated cost of damage to the vending machine or the Piggly Wiggly.
