WASHINGTON - The president must be many things to many people: a politician and diplomat, a scholar and for one night a year he has to be a comedian.
ABC News covered the yearly event where the famous from Hollywood, journalists and lawmakers put politics aside to have dinner together and laugh as the president pokes fun at himself and others in Washington.
Celebrities took to the red carpet and President Barack Obama made his jabs.
ABC News compiled a list of the seven best jokes of the night from the president at the 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner.
In the first he brought himself down a notch when he took the stage Saturday night to rapper DJ Khaled's "All I Do is Win" playing in the background.
"My advisers were a little worried about the new rap entrance music. They are a little more traditional. They suggested that I should start with jokes at my own expense. Just take myself down a peg. I was like, guys after four and a half years how many pegs are there left?"
He went on to show off a new 'do,' make a reference to Beyonce and Jay Z's trip to Cuba and how Republicans can use him as a trial run in "reaching out to minorities."
