What will the United States Postal Service do with all its free time now that it won't be delivering mail on Saturdays? Designing its new fashion line, of course.
The new line, which will be called "Rain, Heat & Snow," will include all-weather jackets, head gear, footwear and clothing that will accommodate iPods.
Isaac Crawford, CEO of the Cleveland-based design and manufacturing firm Wahconah Group, Inc. that will go into business with the USPS, told ABC News that the new line of clothing is going to be "image-conscious, first class, high-end line."
The designs will be displayed in a showroom in New York City's Garment District. The line is initially geared to target men but will eventually aim to create a line for women as well, according to the article on ABC.com .
"One side represents the legacy, the romanticism of the postal service, the idea they started the same time that the country did," Crawford is quoted as saying. "We are looking at carrying some of that forward but we are also trying to be innovative… We want to make it into something that everyone will be interested in today."
A representative from the USPS described the aesthetic of the line as the "cutting edge of functional fashion."
The postal service says its new line of all-weather apparel and accessories is expected to launch in 2014.
