WASHINGTON D.C. -- More than 500,000 people took part in the Women's March on Washington, including hundreds of Cincinnati residents, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017.

The planned protest was a response to the election results in November after President Donald Trump won the election. The D.C. march spurred hundreds of sister marches across the country -- and even across the world in cities like Paris and London -- in support of women's rights, civil rights and human rights.

WCPO photojournalist Emily Maxwell captured some moments from the historic event. She followed a group traveling from Cincinnati to take part in the D.C. protest and documented their experience which can be viewed in the video below.
