Lance Armstrong may testify under oath about doping

Source: Part of effort to avoid jail time

NEW YORK - Disgraced bicyclist Lance Armstrong may now cooperate with a federal criminal investigation into doping among athletes, ABC News is reporting.

The news of Armstrong's possible cooperation came one day after ABC reported he was among the targets in the investigation.

According to a high-level source, "agents are actively investigating Armstrong for obstruction, witness tampering and intimidation" for allegedly threatening people who dared tell the truth about his cheating.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency issued a report late last year detailing widespread doping by Armstrong and his teammates. Since that time, Armstrong has been stripped of his Tour de France victories and an Olympic bronze medal from 2000.
