FORT MORGAN, Colo. - Dozens of people in northeastern Colorado are getting refunds for the furniture they bought last month, thanks to one of the touchdowns during Sunday's Super Bowl.

Furniture Mart in Fort Morgan and Sterling scheduled a Super Bowl promotion this year, before they even knew the Broncos would be playing in the game.

Under the promotion, owner Josh Becker said if customers bought furniture Jan. 23 - Jan. 25 and one of the teams scored a touchdown on the opening kickoff of the Super Bowl's first half or second half, they would get their money back.

"It was called the kick-off pay-off," Becker said.

It didn't happen in the first half Sunday, but when the Seahawks scored a touchdown on the second half's opening kick-off, they also scored for dozens of furniture buyers.

"We have been swamped with customers today, all very excited about the promotion," Becker said.

Becker, who bought the Fort Morgan store from his parents 12 years ago, said he's excited to give back to the community. Becker bought a second store in Sterling four years ago.

"We have a really great customer base in both towns," Becker said. "They are very, very loyal."

And this isn't the first time Becker has given away furniture, he held the same promotion last Super Bowl.

Last year, the Baltimore Ravens scored a touchdown on the second-half kick-off. Becker gave away $122,000 in furniture.

This year?

"We're pushing the $200,000 mark," Becker said.

Becker said some of this year's winners also won last year and came back to try again. Others said they were trying this year, because they didn't  participate in the promotion last year.

Becker said when the paperwork is done, he's going to have a party and give the customers their checks.

"If they choose to re-spend the check in store, they'll get 110% credit," Becker said.
