CINCINNATI - Even the Tooth Fairy is pinching pennies in this economy.
The Tooth Fairy payouts to kids averaged only $2.10 last year, according to a Tooth Fairy poll from Delta Dental . That's a dip of 17 percent from the previous year -- the most she's tightened her belt since 1998.
The non-profit dental organization says kids are getting a measly dollar on average for that tooth left under the pillow. It seems there's a direct correlation with the health of the economy, too.
Tooth Fairy spending has hinged greatly on the Dow Jones Industrial Average seven out of the last 10 years, according to a Huffington Post article .
