Pranksters made a fake website pretending Texas megachurch pastor Joel Osteen had abandoned his Christian faith.
ABC News reports the online hoax was equipped with phony news sites to spread the made-up story.
Each Sunday, Joel Osteen proclaims his faith in front of 45,000 people, plus millions watching at
home and online. So, imagine the reaction when people saw an official-looking website noting a "special announcement" from Osteen.
The phony message read, "I am leaving the Christian faith."
"All is well," Osteen told ABC News. "I still have my faith. Nothing has changed."
Osteen also told ABC News he actually found the prank "mildly amusing."
