FLORENCE, Ky. - As county administrators in Northern Kentucky are working on thelatest proposed regional indoor smoking ban for public places, thedebate continues.
Inside the Florence Holiday Inn Thursday night, it was standingroom only as members of the Boone County Businessmen Associationlet their voices be heard.
The proposed regional smoking ban for public places effectsBoone, Campbell, and Kenton counties. While the final decision isup to the fiscal court, a date on the final vote has not beendetermined.
Even with no date, business owners and residents at times gaveclashing opinions.
"Half the people, and it was almost divided down the middle, felt we should not have smoking at all anywhere. The other halffelt will let the businesses make the decision. And of course asyou know, especially in the city of Florence, over two thirds ofthe businesses are non-smoking. So I don't know what the answer isgoing to be," said Ted Bushelman with the Boone County BusinessmanAssociation.
