MONROE, Ohio - Many Cincinnatians are planning their holiday menu, but a Monroe family has been planning a special Thanksgiving for days.
Adam Miller and his wife Stefanie prepared to surprise their three children as they signed in at Monroe Elementary school on Monday morning.
Like many dads, Adam has not been able to spend enough time with his three children: 9-year-old Grace, 7-year-old Liam, and 10-year-old Luke.
"It's just that Daddy's at work," said Stefanie.
Adam is a soldier serving in the Army and he had been gone for a year, but returned on Friday. Stefanie had been hiding him since then.
Grace reunited with her dad first on the elementary school playground, then Liam and Luke.
The surprise was not only a moment the Millers were able to enjoy, but their neighbors were also anticipating his return.
Adam says he will be taking two weeks off to spend with his family after returning to the states.
