CINCINNATI - A man was shot and killed during a home invasion in South Fairmount early Friday morning and officials are on the hunt for the two suspects involved.
Two men wearing ski masks entered a home in the 2200 block of Schoedinger Avenue at about 4:10 a.m. The suspects shot a dog inside the residence, then ordered two of the three people inside the home to get down on the ground before shooting and killing the third person.
Police say when they arrived on the scene, Aaron Roseberry, 30, was dead. They say Roseberry was shot once in the abdomen area. Witnesses told police they heard one shot fired.
The suspects fled the scene after the shooting. The two other people inside the house were not injured and called authorities after the suspects left. Police are searching for a Blue Chevrolet Impala with an Ohio plate number ETE6839. If you see that vehicle, you're asked to call police immediately. Police are considering the suspects armed and dangerous.
The SPCA came to the scene to care for the injured dog. Police say the pit bull was shot in the back leg, but appears to have non-life threatening injuries.
This is the fourth homicide in Cincinnati Police Department's District 3 in the past 10 days. Police don't believe any of the crimes are connected.
"We had two in East Price Hill, one in Westwood, and now one in South Fairmount. Very broad, no indication that there's any connection from one to the other, and actually the homicide unit has done its job and identified and made arrests in two of those, and hopefully we'll get the leads necessary and work on what we have and close on this one as well," said CPD District 3 Captain Russ Neville.
Officials have not released any additional details about the shooting at this time.
