Thirty-five-year-old Corey McGinnis remains at University Hospital after he was North College Hill Police, who said that they had no other choice, used a Taser on him.

North College Hill officers, along with Springfield Township police, responded to Crutchfield Park Tuesday night, when a 911 call came in reporting a fight and gunfire.

"Based on my initial conversation with that officer and what small facts I was able to determine at the scene, the officer's Tasing through the initial inquiries seems to be that the officer acted appropriately and within the scope of our policy," said Chief Gary Foust, with the North College Hill Police.

Foust said that the department has used Tasers for about 12 years—but never with this outcome.

The North College Hill officer is a seven-year veteran on the force and is on the administrative desk pending the outcome of the investigation.
