Man gets 10 years for meat cleaver attack

FAIRFIELD, Ohio - On Wednesday, a Butler County judge sentenced a man to 10 years in jail after he stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a meat cleaver.

Robin Chester was given 10 years in jail for stabbing Jennifer Miller of Fairfield 35 times. Miller says she received almost 2,000 stitches and staples all over her body.

The 10-year sentence was the maximum sentence for the crime. Also, Chester must pay $197,000 in restitution to Miller.

Chester pleaded guilty to attempted murder after he stabbed Miller with the meat cleaver.

Miller told 9 News she wants a longer sentence for Chester. She says she is afraid that if she doesn't fight to keep Chester locked up for as long as possible, he will get out and hurt someone else.

Miller says it's a miracle that she's here. And now all she wants to do is help other victims of violent crimes and make sure that Chester doesn't hurt anyone else.

Even as Miller recovers from her extensive injuries, she says she will have to live with the scars and damage the attack has caused.

"My face I can't feel, on the left side," Miller said. "I'll never be able to feel it again."
