Crash witness recalls fatal hit-skip

COVINGTON, Ky. - A man was arrested and charged Thursday in connection to a fatal hit-skip crash in Covington.

Covington police arrested 28-year-old Ramino Tomas-Reynoso, of Covington, after they say he left the scene of a Wednesday afternoon wreck that killed 85-year-old Marion Acree and injured another unidentified person seriously.

Police say the accident happened at about 2 p.m. at the intersection of 12th and Russell streets.

Police found the car that caused the crash just a few blocks from the scene.

Police had said the prime suspect in the case was 33-year-old Gustavo Aguiler, who has a warrant out for his arrest for a previous hit-and-run accident in Independence, Ky., but they discovered he was not involved and the registered owner of the vehicle that fled the crash scene. He is still being sought on the previous warrant.

Tomas-Reynoso is charged with operating without a license, operating without insurance, failure to render aid and leaving the scene of an accident.

The person injured in the accident was transported to University Hospital. Their identity and condition have not been released.

Further details surrounding the crash are not being released pending the investigation into the incident.
