ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Xavier Musketeers mens basketball team fell to the Baylor Bears in the last game of the consolation bracket in the Old Spice Classic Sunday.
Tweety Carter had 27 points for Baylor, including connecting on six 3-pointers.
Carter made his sixth 3-pointer of the game to put Baylor up 61-57 with 33.4 seconds to play. The Bears secured the win by going 8-for-8 from the free throw line during the final 27 seconds.
Baylor finished 11-for-23 from beyond the arc (47.8 percent), while Xavier hit just 7 of 18 3-pointers in the game (38.9 percent).
Baylor also got 15 points and nine rebounds from Ekpe Udoh.
Jamel McLean scored 17 points and Jordan Crawford added 16 but McLean missed five free throws and Crawford shot just 6-19 (31.5 percent) for Xavier.
Baylor started the game hot, leading Xavier 11-0 in the first three minutes. The Musketeers fought back, but couldn't catch up in the closing minutes.
Baylor improves to 6-1 on the season and Xavier falls to 4-2.
The Musketeers will be back in action 7:30 p.m. Friday hosting Kent State at the Cintas Center.
