Local Catholic school students will get the chance to create colorful masterpieces to win a prize.

It's sponsored by Catholics United for the Poor, or CUP, a coalition of local agencies working to provide services to the poor.

The True Meaning of Christmas coloring contest is open to students in first through third grade levels.

Students can also write an essay for All Saints Day on the theme, "Who Is A Living Saint In Your Life And Why?"

Essays are due by October 16, 2009 and the coloring projects by November 13, 2009.
